Eligibility
- Graduate students (at the master’s or doctoral level) instructed by the Center’s research fellows, whose theses adopt “the metaverse as a research methodology to explore Chinese culture.”
Application Deadline
- Applications must be sent by registered mail postmarked by Friday, July 11, 2025.
Application Procedure
Applicants must complete the application form and submit the following materials by registered mail to the Center:
- One printed and one electronic copy (PDF format) of either:
- A thesis not yet submitted to the National Central Library or other academic libraries, or
- A pre-defense thesis proposal
Note: All submitted materials will not be returned, regardless of review outcome.
Awards
- Doctoral dissertation: One awardee in principle will receive a grant of NT$50,000 and a certificate.
- Master’s Thesis: Up to two awardees in principle. Each of the awardees will receive a grant of NT$30,000 and a certificate.
- Grants will be disbursed in one payment to the awardees’ designated bank account after the completion of the dissertation/thesis, submission of all required materials, and successful review.
- Final number of awardees may be adjusted based on the review committee’s evaluation.
- The actual amount of the award will be determined by the standard deduction rate based on income classification regulations.
Announcement of Result
- Award results will be announced on the Center’s website between mid-August and early September, and awardees will be notified via email. Those applicants who are not awarded will not be notified individually.
Rights and Obligations
- Awardees must include the following acknowledgment on the first page of their final thesis (upon submission to libraries, official publication, or reprint):“This work received a thesis research grant from the Research Center for Chinese Cultural Metaverse, National Chengchi University, in [year].”
- The awardees must grant the Center the right to publicly display, exhibit, and transmit the entire contents of his/her thesis without restriction of locations, at any time, and in any manner whatsoever, without compensation.
- The awardees should submit the authorization letter, three copies of the printed thesis, and one copy of the digital file (in PDF format, with chapters and sections in separate files and without any watermarks) stored on a USB to the Center for archiving and utilization (by registered postmark).
- If the awarded thesis is officially published, two copies must be submitted to the Center for archiving.
- The Center reserves the right to organize other activities to promote the awarded theses.
