Purpose

Taiwan Baseball Culture Metaverse Digital Curatorial Competition aims to enhance the public’s understanding of the history and culture of Taiwanese baseball through innovative metaverse digital curation. Competitors can curate creative and narrative metaverse digital exhibitions with immersive and highly interactive digital technologies to show the historical trajectory and cultural essence of Taiwanese baseball.
The competition will cultivate students’ abilities in data integration, digital storytelling, and innovative digital content design. Through this competition, it is hoped to deepen public identification with Taiwanese baseball culture, thereby fostering the ongoing transmission of its diverse values and spirit. Moreover, it seeks to harness the potential of metaverse digital curation for cultural preservation and dissemination, promoting interdisciplinary integration between metaverse technologies and Taiwanese baseball culture.

Eligibility

  • Senior High School/Vocational High School Group
    • Open to currently enrolled domestic senior high school and vocational high school students in Taiwan who are interested in metaverse digital curation. Each team can consist of 1 to 3 students and can submit only one project.
    • Each team is limited to one instructor. Team members may come from different grades or schools. However, each participant can join only one team. Team members cannot be changed during the competition All participants must provide proof of enrollment.
    • Participants under 18 years old must submit a consent form signed by a legal guardian.
  • College/University Group
    • Open to currently enrolled domestic college and university students in Taiwan who are interested in metaverse digital curation. Each team can consist of 1 to 3 students and can submit only one project.
    • Each team is limited to one instructor. Team members may come from different grades or schools. However, each participant can join only one team. Team members cannot be changed during the competition. All participants must provide proof of enrollment.
    • Participants under 18 years old must submit a consent form signed by a legal guardian.

Competition Guidelines

  • Curation Theme
    • Theme 1: A Century of Taiwanese Baseball History
      • Participants may curate based on the entire century or focus on specific periods, such as:
      • 1-1 Japanese Colonial Period (before 1945)
      • 1-2 Post-War Period (1945–1960s)
      • 1-3 Three-Level Baseball Development (1960s–1980s)
      • 1-4 Senior Baseball Development (1980s–1990s)
      • 1-5 Professional Baseball Development (1990s–present)
    • Theme 2: Biographies of Taiwanese Baseball Figures
    • Theme 3: Baseball Culture in Taiwanese Society
  • The curations submitted for competition must utilize the designated digital archiving platform “Omeka S,” along with the digital curation platform “Curation Cosmos.”
  • Curation content should primarily be based on documents, images, videos, or other materials authorized by the organizer. If participants wish to use additional materials from other sources to enrich their curations, they must ensure that such materials are either licensed under a Creative Commons (CC) license or used with formal authorization. Any content (text, image, audio, video, etc.) related to Taiwanese baseball history and culture generated using AI technologies must be explicitly labeled with the statement:  “This content was generated by AI.”
  • Each participant may only register as a member of one team. All submitted exhibitions must be original works and not plagiarized. Projects that have  previously been submitted to other competitions are not eligible for this contest. If any of the above requirements are violated and such violations are verified, the organizers reserve the right to disqualify the team. If prizes have already been awarded, the organizers also reserve the right to revoke the awards and retrieve any associated prizes.
  • The competition consists of three review stages:
    • Qualification Review: Participants’ basic qualifications and curation themes will be reviewed to ensure compliance with the competition guidelines.
    • Project Evaluation: A panel of experts will assess submissions based on established evaluation criteria.
    • Awarded Project Showcase: Winning and outstanding curations will be exhibited on the competition website and must also be presented publicly during events organized by CCMTW.
  • Evaluation Criteria (5 categories, each accounting for 20% of the total score):
    • Content Design
      Clarity of theme, accuracy and relevance of content, richness of information, and easy to understand for the public.
    • Creativity
      Innovation and originality in both the chosen theme and curated content.
    • Curatorial Design
      Storytelling and quality of visual/artistic design.
    • Cultural Impact
      The curation’s value in preserving and promoting cultural heritage, and its potential to engage the public in learning about Taiwanese baseball culture.
    • Final Deliverables
      Quality and completeness of the curation introduction video and written report.

Awards

  • Separate awards will be given for the Senior High School/Vocational High School Group and College/University Group, with each group selecting one First Prize, one Second Prize, one Third Prize, and several Honorable Mentions.

  • The organizers reserve the right not to award certain prizes or to grant joint awards as necessary.
  • The actual amount of the award will be determined by the standard deduction rate based on income classification regulations.

    • All registration materials must be sent by registered mail no later than June 27, 2025 (Friday). The postmark date will serve as proof of submission.

        Each team must designate a “natural person” as the representative,  who will be responsible for all competition-related rights and obligations, including receiving notifications and collecting the prize on behalf of the team.
      • Photocopy of both sides of the student ID or National ID Card (for foreign students, please provide a copy of the passport.)
      • Consent and Declaration Form.
        Agreement for the collection, processing, and use of personal information, along with a declaration of participation.
      • Parental Consent Form (for participants under the age of 18)
        Must be signed in person by the participant’s legal guardian.

  • Confirmation of Registration
    • After the organizers have verified that all submitted materials are complete and eligibility criteria are met, a competition ID number will be sent to the team via email. Only upon receiving this number will the registration be considered officially accepted.
